About

LARCH COTTAGE offers spacious accommodation for up to 6 people in a quiet cul-de-sac location only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Windermere with its plentiful variety of shops and places to eat and drink. We welcome families and well behaved dogs.

It is one of 5 traditional Lakeland stone and slate cottages, which were converted from a Victorian toffee works owned by the famous Kendal Mint Cake company and now offers comfortable modern holiday accommodation. The large living/dining area opens onto a small enclosed patio which receives afternoon and evening sun, with the gentle sound of the bubbling Mill Beck a safe fenced off distance below.

The modern kitchen has plenty of fully fitted units, electric hob and high level oven, full height fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, breakfast bar and stools, and is well equipped for all catering needs.

Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, 2 large doubles with plenty of storage space, (one with an additional single bed) and a 3rd bedroom with full size bunk beds. The bathroom is fully tiled, with a three piece suite, electric shower over the bath, and an airing / drying cupboard.

The cottage has its own gravelled area at the front which receives morning sunlight. This links with 2 of the other properties but is fenced with a gate from the road providing safety for young children or dogs. A car parking space is provided on the cul-de-sac and there is additional unrestricted parking on the kerbside.

A modern combi boiler provides instant hot water and central heating throughout, with an additional gas fire in the lounge. Free Wi-Fi is available and most networks receive a good mobile signal. We also have a cot, highchair, a selection of toys, games and books and plenty of maps and leaflets for guest’s use.

A 100m walk brings you to Victoria Park with an enclosed play area, skateboard park, and open grass suitable for morning and evening dog exercising. Beyond this paths lead to School Knott, a small hill with lovely views over Windermere Lake, and the Dales Way.

Windermere‘s facilities also include banks, post office, petrol garage, chemists and a Booths supermarket. It is well connected with public transport with buses to Bowness, Ambleside, Grasmere, Coniston and Kendal, and further afield to Keswick and Lancaster. Trains from Windermere link to the West Coast line at Oxenholme. Bikes can be hired from Windermere Station and Bowness (near the car ferry point). The Lakefront at Bowness is 1 mile away, a pleasant 20 minute walk.
